Everyone has their own way of preparing a travel abroad. We are always standing by you, ready to offer help and advice. Moreover, we provide you with a detailed handbook compiled by us which contains manifold tips on typical travel preparation questions. Some extracts from the handbook can be found here for your reference.
Vaccinations
There is no obligatory vaccination necessary to be permitted to travel to Argentina. In any case, we recommend you to use the opportunity of travelling to check your Vaccination Card with respect to the following illnesses: tetanus, diphetia, polio, hepatitis A. Please remember that usually a booster shot is given every ten years. For a long term-stay in Argentina it might be recommendable to receive or refresh your Hepatitis B immunization. The typhoid fever vaccine might be recommended if you plan a travel during which you will be exposed to precarious hygienic circumstances (for example if you travel to the poor countryside, to Bolivia, to Peru).
In the extreme northern part of Argentina there is a minimum risk of malaria and we consider a malaria vaccination not necessary. If you travel to this region and start having fever, you should take this into account and visit a doctor. In general, malaria cases are quite rare nowadays.
Visa
There is no visa required for tourists from most European countries, neither for Canadians or US-Americans. As a tourist, it is permitted to stay up to 90 days in the country. Leaving Argentina for one or more days (for example by doing a trip to one of the neighbouring countries) will give you the right to stay another 90 days – counted from the day of your return to Argentina. This procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.
Alternatively, you can also visit the Migrations Office (“Migraciones”) in Argentina to request the extension of your residence permit for another 90 days. This will cost about 120 Argentinian Pesos (30 Euro) and you will have to indicate a reason for your prolonged stay. Usually the requests are accepted but – in contrast to the option to leave and return to Argentina – there is no law that establishes your right and automatically prolongs your residence permit. Crossing the border and returning to Argentina thus is the safer way to have the right to another 90 days-visa. If you want to apply for a special visa at the Argentinian Embassy for your internship, we´ll be glad to inform and help you!
Luggage
Most airlines allow luggage with a maximum of 20 kg per passenger for all flights from and to Argentina. Please confirm this information with your airline or travel agency.
(Usually, there is no problem if you exceed this weight for about 2-3 kg).
Besides posting a label or card with your personal information outside the suitcase, we suggest you to place also one inside of your luggage. Using a padlock or a belt will prevent your luggage from theft or being lost.
In addition to these 20 kg of luggage you will be allowed to take hand luggage up to 8 or 10 kg with you (the weight depends on the airline). However, hand luggage must have the right size to fit into the airplane luggage compartments or below the seats.
In case you will need more luggage than this, we recommend you to fly with the Brasilian Airline TAM. This airline permits up to 48kg of luggage per passenger. So if you stay longer in Argentina or plan on taking home lots of heavy souvenirs, you should certainly book with this airline.

Money/ Methods of payment
You can use your debit or credit card to take money from any cashpoint that has the Master Card/ Visa logo on it. The transaction is made in ARS (Argentinian Pesos).
If you have an account with Citibank you can avoid the extra charges for using your Credit/Debit Card abroad. There are banks that advertise not taking any fees for cash withdrawal abroad. The best is to check with your bank which fees will be due.
You can exchange US $, Euros and traveller checks at the airports, banks and with foreign exchange dealers in the big cities such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Salta, etc. They are open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Some restaurants and hotels accept credit cards. The cash that you are allowed to bring to the country is 10.000 US-Dollar.
If you prefer to buy Pesos in your country, you might need to notify your bank from 7 to 15 days in advance. To check the daily exchange rate you can visit: www.oanda.com
Payment by credit card can be made with restrictions. Especially shopping malls, supermarket chains, upmarket gastronomy allow payment by credit card. Most shops however prefer cash or cash-card payment.
Transfer Options
If you are planning to fly via Buenos Aires to another city (Córdoba, for example), you will have to change from Ezeiza Airport (Buenos Aires International Airport) to Jorge Newbery Airport-Aeroparque (national flights airport). To do so, we recommend to use a company called Manuel Tienda León that offers a good and safe bus transfer service and whose employees speak English. You can find their desks easily in the arrival hall of the airport.
The journey from Ezeiza to Aeroparque takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Departures are every 30 minutes. The price of the tickets is about U$ 10 and it is not necessary to book in advance. The company also offers a transfer to its central office and from there you can get an extra transfer service to the bus station or to your accommodation or hostel etc.
